Martin Aquilina joins Panel of Experts at Hamilton Law Association CPD event

On Tuesday, December 7, 2021, Martin Aquilina, CEO and International Lawyer at Aquilina Law, was a speaker at the Continuing Professional Development Committee (CPD) Virtual Roundtable. The Virtual Conference was hosted by Barry Yellin from Ross & McBride LLP.

The topic of the roundtable discussion was Art & The Law. Joined by speakers Rebecca Phillips (also of Ross & McBride) who focused on Art Fraud and Michelle Ballagh (Ballagh & Edward LLP) who discussed Intellectual Property as it pertains to works of visual art, Martin’s contribution to the Roundtable provided insight into the topic of Exporting Visual Art. In keeping with this topic, Martin discussed certain aspects of the Cultural Property Import and Export Act (Canada) as well as the controversial Heffel Gallery case in which it was decided that a painting by French impressionist Gustave Caillebotte was of national importance for Canada.
